Helps Connection

“And God has set some in the church, first apostles, secondarily prophets, thirdly teachers, after that miracles, then gifts of healings, HELPS, governments, diversities of tongues.”

1 Corinthians 12:28

Overview

Ministry of Helps is scriptural. The Greek definition for the word “Helps” used in 1 Corinthians 12:28 is, “antilepsis” means “rendering practical aid and support; take hold of the other side.” That is the purpose of ‘Helps’ ministry – to be a “practical aid and support” to the church and its leaders.

(a) Moses was the leader of the people (children of Israel) that he led out of Egypt, much as the Pastor is the leader of the local church. In Numbers 11:14. Moses prays and says, “I am not able to bear all this people alone, because it is too heavy for me.” He found himself unable to handle the day in and day out responsibility of caring for all the children of Israel (they numbered approximately 5 million).

So, the God answered him saying, “Gather unto Me seventy men of the elders of Israel, whom you know to be the elders of the people, and officers over them and bring them unto the tabernacle of the congregation, that they may stand there with you. And I will take of the spirit which is upon you, and will put it upon them; and they shall bear the burden of the people with you, that you bear it not alone.”

This was the Helps ministry in action! A portion of the anointing that was on Moses was transferred to help get the job done. “One man with a vision cannot get the job done alone.” See Also Exodus 17:12.

(b) In the Book of Acts 6:3-5, the early church was confronted with a similar problem to the one Moses encountered. The leadership of that day found that they were spending so much time taking care of the natural aspects of caring for their people that they were neglecting the Word of God and prayer! They, as did Moses before them, anointed men to help in these natural areas of ministry. “Wherefore, brethren, look ye out among you seven men of honest report, full of the Holy Ghost and wisdom, whom we may appoint over this business. But we will give ourselves continually to prayer and the ministry of the Word. And the saying pleased the whole multitude.”

Rhema Christian Ministries’ Helps Ministry personnel are all members of the church who voluntarily serve in helping to fulfil the vision of the church. Whatever your skills and personality, there is a place here where you can get involved and make a difference!  Our aim is to help every member of the church find a healthy balance of giving and receiving, contributing to each other’s needs by doing the things they are gifted in and passionate about.

Stewarding and Hospitality

“A loving heart serves or gives willingly.”

Stewarding

Every Sunday, Stewards are usually some of the first helpers at church.  They make sure things are in order and are positioned ready to greet members and visitors and direct them to their seats.

Our Stewarding team have a heart to serve others and a willingness to provide practical assistance for the smooth running of our church services and related activities.

Being the first point of contact for anyone who attends our family worship services you will be sure to receive a warm greeting and friendly smile.

Hospitality

The Hospitality team is responsible for welcoming and attending to the hospitality requirements of any invited guest(s).  They also serve as a second point of contact for visitors, as well as servicing the hospitality requirements of the church during services or related activities.

Worship Team

“But the hour is coming, and is now here, when the true worshippers will worship the Father in spirit and truth, for the Father is seeking such people to worship Him.”

John 4:23

We believe that the local church must be a place of true worship. We allow time and freedom for the Holy Spirit to take us to the place where God is glorified through our worship and where He inhabits the praises of His people.

Our worship team consists of dedicated singers, musicians and technicians who use their gifts and talents to provide leadership in praise and worship each Sunday.

Altar Workers

An altar call is an opportunity made available during a church service where people are invited to come forward, usually to the front, to outwardly express their genuine heartfelt belief, repentance and faith in Jesus Christ.  Romans 10:9; Matthew 10:32Matthew 4:19.

The role of an altar worker is that of service, providing prayerful assistance to any person who responds to an altar call.  The objective of an altar call will always be for the transformation of lives by the power of God.  Galatians 5:22-23.

Everybody, Somebody, Anybody, Nobody!

This is the story about four people named: Everybody, Somebody, Anybody and Nobody.

There was an important job to be done. Everybody was sure that Somebody would do it.  Anybody could have done it but Nobody did it.  Somebody got angry about that because it was Everybody’s job.  Everybody knew that Anybody could do it but Nobody realised that Somebody wouldn’t do it.  It ended up that Everybody blamed Somebody because Nobody did what Anybody could have done.

The moral of the story is don’t assume Somebody is doing the job that Anybody could have done after recognising that it needs to be done.  If we don’t take responsibility then nothing will be accomplished.  Play your part!
